Hush Puppies with Corn and Chiles

Add canned corn and green chiles to McCormick® Hush Puppy Corn Meal Mix to make Southwestern-style hush puppies.

Makes 8 servings.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS

Vegetable oil for frying

1 package McCormick® Hush Puppy Corn Meal Mix

1/2 cup water

1 can (8 1/2 ounces) cream style corn

1 can (4 1/2 ounces) chopped green chiles, drained

DIRECTIONS

1. Pour oil into deep fryer, large heavy skillet or saucepan, filling no more than 1/3 full. Heat oil to 375°F on medium heat.

2. Stir Batter Mix, water, corn and chiles in medium bowl until smooth. Let stand 10 minutes to thicken.

3. Drop batter carefully by teaspoonfuls into hot oil. Cook several hush puppies at a time. Fry 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels.
