Ingredients
- Spiced Apple Hand Pies
- 2 cups apples, peeled & finely chopped, such as Granny Smith or golden delicious (about 2 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Cinnamon
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 package (14.1 ounces) refrigerated pie crusts, (2 crusts)
- Vanilla Glaze
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® All Natural Pure Vanilla Extract
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1 For the Hand Pies, preheat oven to 425°F. Place apples in medium bowl. Add confectioners’ sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice and cinnamon; tossing gently to mix well. Set aside. Mix egg and water in separate small bowl; set aside.
- 2 Unroll pie crusts on lightly floured surface. Using a 3-inch round cutter, cut each crust into 8 rounds. Spoon 1 heaping tablespoon of the apple filling onto center of 8 dough rounds. Brush edges with egg wash. Top each with a second dough round, pressing edges with a fork to seal. Place hand pies 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle tops with additional sugar, if desired.
- 3 Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
- 4 Meanwhile, for the Vanilla Glaze, mix confectioners' sugar, water and vanilla in medium bowl until smooth. Drizzle warm Hand Pies with Vanilla Glaze. Serve immediately or cool and serve at room temperature.
